Sport Poster Levis Moscow 1980 Olympic Games South America Football. Original vintage sport poster published by the Levi Strauss clothing brand (founded 1853) for the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games featuring a dynamic graphic design depicting a football player in white kicking a ball from the map of South America up to a footballer kicking the ball into orbit against the dark blue space background, the Levi's logo and stylised title text in the margin below. One of a series of six posters commissioned by the blue jeans manufacturer Levi's as official sponsors of the US team for the 1980 Olympic Games; this Levi's Olympic Opportunity Sweepstakes campaign emphasised a sport associated with each of the six continents competing in the event - Skiing (North America), Gymnastics (Asia), Swimming (Australia), Track & Field (Africa), Soccer (South America), Cycling (Europe) - but the posters were withdrawn following the decision by US President Carter to boycott the Olympics in protest after the USSR invaded Afghanistan in December 1979. Excellent condition. Country of issue: USA, designer: unknown, size (cm): 61x46, year of printing: 1979.
