Original vintage poster Map of Polonnaruva showing Places of Historical Interest featuring roads and the railway line, hills, buildings, parks, temples and monuments with descriptions including Lotus Bath, Rock Caves - Gopala Pabbatha, Kiri Vehera, ancient Sluice, Menik Vehera, Rock Statue, Kumara Pokuna, Royal Palace, Ancient City Wall, the Parakrama Samudda reservoir and island. Located in the north central area, Polonnaruwa was military post of the Sinhalese kingdom (1056-1236) and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Printed and published under the direction of I.F. Wilson Surveyor General of Ceylon / Sri Lanka from 1946-1951. Good condition, restored paper loss in bottom left corner, restored tears, restored folds, staining, backed on linen.
